Frequently Asked Questions

What is RoastTime?

RoastTime is a free web app that plans and times your roast dinner for you. Pick a serve time, choose your dishes, and it builds a complete visual timeline — telling you exactly what to do and when, so you can stop worrying and enjoy the cooking.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes — signing in with Google lets you save your kitchen setup and roasts across devices. Your data is stored securely in Firebase and is only accessible to you.

Is it really free?

The core experience is completely free: one protein, up to four dishes, and the full cook timeline. Optional one-time unlocks (not subscriptions) add extra dishes, people tracking, and seasonal features.

What does the free tier include?

Up to 4 dishes including 1 meat, the full visual timeline, live cook mode with step-by-step guidance, and the ability to save and revisit your roasts.

What do the paid unlocks add?

The Party unlock (one-time) adds unlimited dishes, up to 3 meats, and people tracking with per-person dish preferences and a plating mode. Seasonal packs (like the Christmas pack) add holiday-specific dishes and features. These are per-roast purchases — no subscriptions.

What dishes are supported?

The current catalog covers the British roast dinner: beef, lamb, pork, chicken, turkey, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips, roast carrots, sprouts, broccoli, peas, and gravy. More dishes are added over time.

How does the timeline work?

You pick when you want to eat. RoastTime works backwards from that serve time, calculating when each dish needs to start, when to check temperatures, when to turn things, and when to take things out. During cooking, the timeline updates live — if you finish something early or late, downstream steps for that dish shift automatically.

What is 'people tracking'?

With people tracking (Party tier), you can add the people eating and mark which dishes each person wants. During plating, RoastTime shows you a visual canvas with each person's plate so you don't forget anyone's preferences.

Does RoastTime work offline?

RoastTime needs an internet connection to sign in and sync your data. Once the cook page is loaded and your roast data is cached, brief connectivity drops won't interrupt your cooking session.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. RoastTime is a web app designed to work on any screen size. During cooking, a tablet or laptop propped up in the kitchen tends to work best, but it's fully usable on a phone.

What happens to my data?

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) under your user account. Only you can read and write your own roasts. We don't sell or share your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete all your roast data from the app. To fully remove your Firebase authentication record, contact us and we'll handle it promptly.
